WWE games lays the smackdown on Wii U…literally

It was obvious that after THQ’s bankruptcy that the IP for WWE wrestling games was in jeopardy, but with the recently announced WWE2K14, a collaborative slobberknocker between 2K Sports and WWE Games, the IP looks provide more electrifying entertainment for WWE Universe. The idea of having the best video game sports developer clashing against monumental pro wrestling icons—The Rock, John Cena, Triple H and CM Punk to name a few—is masterfully genius. However, WWEGames has confirmed yesterday that not everyone will get a chance to be a part of the main event.

According to a tweet yesterday made by WWEGames, WWE2K14 will be released exclusively on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 consoles. This most likely means that Wii-U wrestling fans unfortunately won’t be making their way to the squared circle.

There has been no word from WWEGames nor 2K Sports of whether or not the game will be released on any other handheld platforms, but the fact that Nintendo’s lead console isn’t getting any love leads to the incentive that the 3DS will have to miss out on a lot of body slamming.

Fans of the franchise have already started speculating on what will be on the game based on what WWE games are usually known for: an impeccable roster, various match types, what will be included in the season mode and any depth in character creation. Rest assured, gamers will be opening a can of “whoop-ass” when WWE2K14 hits stores Oct. 14.
