Mario and Sonic at the Sochi Olympic Games Announced For Wii U

During today’s Nintendo Direct, Iwata announced the next entry in the Mario and Sonic at the Olympics series. Considering past games were on the Wii, this Wii U installment looks quite a bit better – with fairly impressive snow effects in both dust behind the characters and little chunks that fly up after a jump. The Gamepad will be used in curling to draw a path, while the biathalon switches between the Wii Remote and Gamepad for shooting. No release date was announced, but the franchise usually launches in late October or November, so it’s safe to say it will come out around that time now.
