It’s Actually 3D: Guilty Gear Xrd

To be fair, there was Guilty Gear 2: Overture that was designed in a 3D space, but the next installment into the beloved fighting game franchise will no longer be sprites. Arc System Works has official revealed their next project to be Guilty Gear Xrd-SIGN-, and what a surprise it is.

Don’t be fooled by the video below; Arc System is actually developing this game with polygons using the Unreal engine, which is kind of peculiar for a mid-sized Japanese fighting game developer, but considering how good the cel-shading looks (almost indistinguishable from hand-drawn anime), I think it’s a good fit. Nothing else has been revealed about the game other than that it’s in development. Not even platforms have been announced, which leads us to believe that this could find its way not only on current generation system, but quite possibly the Playstation 4 and next Xbox.
