E3 2013: Did Thief Actually Try Stealing the Spotlight from Xbox Conference?

Earlier today, after the Xbox conference experienced some technical difficulties, Spike’s television coverage shifted gears to another new console. The first live demonstration of PlayStation 4 gameplay occurred backstage. Thief has been a hot title lately, they even released a live action trailer, but today we got a glimpse of the actual game with a world premiere. Perhaps the folks at Eidos Montreal wanted to speed up the process so they can show off their hard work.

The game appears breathtaking in its dreary, cityscape. You play as Garrett, a master thief, with plans to exploit the corruption of his hometown. You have an array of weaponry to help keep hidden in the dark, such as a water arrow to extinguish light sources. Rely on quick movements and sticking to the shadows or high ground so you won’t get caught. Eliminate your enemies quietly with arrows or you don’t have to hurt anyone at all in order to complete the game. The choice is up to you.

As for stealing the show, Thief probably didn’t plan those technical attacks in order to sabotage the conference. After all, the game will be available on both the PS4 as well as Xbox One. Check out the entire gameplay demonstration right here.
