E3 2013: The Arrogance Of Microsoft Continues

It looks like the beat down on Microsoft is only going to get worse this week, as not only are Microsoft refusing to budge, they’re outwardly acting like jackasses now, with Don Mattrick, President of Interactive Entertainment at Microsoft, telling players during an interview at E3 that, “We have a product for people who aren’t able to get some form of connectivity; it’s called Xbox 360.” Seemingly lacking in any sense of how selling your product actually works, there are several things wrong with this statement, not least the failure to comprehend that, telling people that if they don’t like what you’re selling then they can shove it, will drive fans away from your console and into the arms of the competition.

It’s almost like Mattrick is out of touch with the reality of the situation which we at Hardcore Gamer have been covering.  Simply put, Microsoft are being beat easily and they’ve pretty much hit rock bottom of what could have happened this week. Even worse is the fact that they don’t seem to realise that even if gamers stay with the Xbox 360, they’re still not buying that shiny new console Microsoft’s spending a ton on to try and get them to buy. With statements like this, and the expectant Christmas beatdown that’s coming in terms of sales, we may just be seeing the famous last words from Mattrick that signaled his inevitable sacking.
