Nobody Celebrates as Angry Birds Trilogy Gets a Confirmed Wii and WiiU Release

Everyone out there anxiously waiting for Angry Birds to make its Wii debut must wait no longer. Rovio uploaded a trailer to their YouTube account confirming that the game will receive both a Wii and a Wii U release this August. The game promises over 40 hours of gameplay, Wii U touch screen controls, and all the pig murder you could ever want. This is expected to be essentially the same version that made its way to the PS3, Xbox 360, and 3DS last year and is a compilation of the first three mobile games (Angry Birds, Angry Birds Seasons, and Angry Birds Rio) plus some extra levels.

While the games are casual and fun, this port doesn’t make a lot of sense to us. Angry Birds already has a good thing going on these mobile platforms that were basically made for its kind of gameplay, and these console releases seem useless. I’m not entirely convinced there is still anyone out there who hasn’t played the Angry Birds games yet. You can basically get the games for free on iPad or iPhone, and the ports to Xbox 360 and PS3 cost $30. The Wii and WiiU releases don’t have a confirmed price yet, but it is safe to assume they will cost approximately the same as their Xbox 360 and PS3 counterparts, or approximately $30 too much to be worth it. Angry Birds Trilogy has a release date of August 13, but if you’re really interested in it do yourself a favor and just find a friend that has it on their iPad. I promise you that at least a dozen people you know do.
