It’s been 10 months since the Mercenary Kings Kickstarter completed its run, and the game has been under heavy development since. It’s been demoed at a few shows recently, and played so nice it earned a Hardcore Gamer nomination for Indie Best of E3. Now Mercenary Kings is finally coming to Steam for $15 on July 22 under the Early Access program, which is 25% off the final price.
What that will get you is a “beefed up version of the first milestone”, which includes up to four-player online co-op to go with its single-player run and gun action. Take on missions, shoot enemies, collect the debris they leave behind to craft into new guns, and destroy everything that moves as you blast through the richly-animated 2D levels. Mercenary Kings was a ton of fun at E3, even if I didn’t have the time to mess with the gun creation properly, and we’re looking forward to bringing you more details once Early Access is running.
