As reported by Shounen Jump (and translated by Siliconera), the upcoming HD remake of Final Fantasy X and X-2 will come with a bonus “drama” that is completely new to both games. It is 30 minutes long and will play during the compilations credit sequence, so either the credits are going to roll by really, really slowly or the staff is thanking everyone they ever met. This sounds like a meaty addition to the story, although as of yet there is no word where the events will take place within the timeline of Final Fantasy X or X-2. Fans will be pleased to know that it is being written by Kazushige Nojima, the original scenario writer for Final Fantasy X and Final Fantasy X-2. It is currently unknown if this scenario will be available from the beginning or if you will need to clear either or both games to view it.
The even more interesting speculation is what exactly this scene will be. An extended ending to one of the games? A new scene in the middle of the quest to flesh out the characters further? Auron trying on a variety of coats that cover half his face while the rest of the party giggles and shakes their head in disapproval in an 80’s style montage? Thirty minutes of forced, awkward laughter that makes children cry and renders everyone within hearing distance incapable of smiling?
We will have to wait and see what they have in store for us, but our fingers are crossed for more laughter.
