The upcoming samurai anime, Hakuoki, is the first film in a two-part film project that’s been garnering some serious attention as of late. Although Hakuoki is a franchise that’s been plastered all over game systems, the interwebs and Japanese television sets for quite some time now — spawning several games, three separate TV series and a six-episode OVA — it’s no less exciting to get yet another installment in this consistently solid franchise. Beloved director Osamu Yamasaki will be returning to man the helm and co-write the scripts for the forthcoming films, with veteran Tsunekiyo Fujisawa lending his pen-hand for the writing, as well. Naturally, Studio DEEN will be stepping up to the producer’s plate to round out a team that is already more than competent of churning out a piece of anime gold.
With all that being said, the good folks behind Hakuoki have finally released the film’s first trailer. So check it out, drool a little bit, love it a little bit and then find a way to watch it when it airs in Japan on August 24.
