Rather than discount a lot of games on the eShop, Nintendo is encouraging Wii U owners to add funds to their account and get some extra money to spend on the eShop instead. If you add $50-$99.99, you’ll get a promo code good for $5. If you spend $100 instead of $99.99 (and seriously, who would ever do that?), you’ll get $10. All you need to do is log into the eShop via the Wii U and add funds, so the process is quite simple. However, unless you like adding a ton of money to your eShop wallet at once, there doesn’t seem to be much of a benefit to doing this. If you’re into giving companies large quantities of money to hold onto, this is at least a way to get some more out of it. It’s a shame this doesn’t carry over to the 3DS eShop though, as that system’s lineup is far more appealing than the Wii U’s at the moment.
