Gamestop customers who buy the Xbox 360 version of Call of Duty: Ghosts, Madden NFL 25, FIFA 14, Battlefield 4 and Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag will be eligible for a $50 buy back coupon that can be used towards purchasing the Xbox One version of these games. This seems like the first time that GameStop has does something that doesn’t require them taking a giant crap on their customers, and it’s undoubtedly a terrific move on their part, as many gamers will find themselves wanting to wait a while before deciding to purchase the new next-gen console.
It has been reported that upon purchasing one of the Xbox 360 titles, customers will say hello to their new $50 PowerUp Rewards credit, which can be used for future trade-in for one of the listed Xbox One titles. This deal can be redeemed in all stores across the country and will only work until the end of this year.
The question is whether or not the same treatment will be allowed for the PlayStation 4. If so, then fair game. However, if this deal seems to be a Microsoft Xbox One exclusive, then it’s obvious that their PR marketing schemes are tremendously working in their favor, especially since this offer will expand beyond the console’s launch day.
The battle for holiday sales seems to have already started and it’s not even November yet.
