Sony already has an incredibly expensive 3D mounted display under the name HMZ-T2, but sources have told both Eurogamer and CVG that later this month, the Japanese company is set to announce another VR headset, this time targeted at the PlayStation 4. Set to be shown off at the Tokyo Game Show, this piece of tech looks to battle the Oculus Rift (if priced accordingly). According to both publications, the folks at Evolution Studios are already experimenting with the new tech for DriveClub, an experience I can see being enhanced with the device.
With the Oculus Rift gaining significant ground as of late, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Sony bring this to the market. While this is still very much a rumor, hopefully it will come to fruition as it would seem the 3D virtual reality space is the big next step in revolutionizing how we play games. Be sure to keep your eyes and ears open when TGS rolls around on September 19.
