I still remember the moment sitting in the front row of EA’s E3 2013 press conference when Aaron Paul showed up for fourteen seconds to plug the upcoming Need for Speed film. Some say it was to collect a quick paycheck or due to contractual obligations, but you could smell the excitement in the air. At that moment, Need for Speed: The Movie was for real.
The first trailer for the film was just released, which features new footage from the film as Aaron Paul gives a monologue about seeking revenge. It looks to be a bit deeper than one would expect from a film based on an almost plotless racing game and some of the car crashing scenes, which seems to forgo CGI, seem impressive. Still, at this point it’s hard to know exactly how it will turn out.
