Music Monday: October 7 Edition

Today’s entry will be our first multi-gender group, though regardless of the band’s makeup, this is a seven-member powerhouse that has dominated Japanese airwaves for quite a while now. Under the name “AAA” (a backronym for “Attack All Around”), the group debuted back in 2005 and is often referred to as “super performance unit.” Originally, the group was formed through a series of auditions, and was originally comprised of five young men and three young women who had acted in commercials and had experience being back dancers for other Japanese stars. But while the band has always known success to some degree, it wasn’t until 2010 that they really found their stride. From that point, the band has charted with nearly all of their singles, creating quite the buzz in the J-pop scene.

Today, we’re focusing on one of their hits from back in January of this year. “Miss You” landed on the Oricon at number 3 and stayed on the chart for five consecutive weeks, going on to sell 46,146 copies. Not too shabby, right? Enough with the history lesson, though, it’s time for you to listen to the goodness that is AAA.
