As first reported by VentureBeat, Ubisoft has confirmed that those purchasing the upcoming Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag for the Wii U will not have access to most of the planned DLC. Unfortunately, this includes the big three hour DLC we previously reported on that features quartermaster Adewale as the main playable character. Not all of the DLC will be missed, however, as purchasing the Buccaneer Edition of the game for the Wii U will nab you some of the less interesting pieces. No further details were given as to why the DLC will be omitted from the Wii U, but it is a shame for Wii U owners as Adewale’s story looks genuinely interesting.
This isn’t the first time Wii U owners have received the inferior version of a title, and Assassin’s Creed III DLC was significantly delayed compared to other consoles. It seems like the main game will remain intact, so this is really only bad news if you found yourself interested in the DLC content. Still, Nintendo needs to do something to ensure Wii U owners can and do receive the complete version of their games, otherwise Wii U owners will most likely look to other consoles to satisfy their third party needs.
