Rockstar Delays Grand Theft Auto Online Cash Compensation

Rockstar announced earlier this month that they would be compensating Grand Theft Auto Online players who stuck with the game throughout the chaotic launch.  For those who don’t know, Grand Theft Auto Online launched October 1 and was a disaster.  Players had trouble getting in and there were numerous glitches and technical problems.  Still, players stayed with the game and Rockstar announced that every player that played the game throughout the launch month would get $500,000 in-game.

The distribution plan was to deliver the cash over two payments.  The first was supposed to happen this week.  Sadly, due to continued problems the money isn’t coming this week.

Rockstar announced via a post on the Rockstar Newswire that the distribution of the money has been pushed back.  This due to the recurring problem of players logging in to find that their character had been deleted for unknown reasons.

“We hope to have an update for you on that very soon,” the statement reads. “As others have mentioned here, we of course want to make sure player progress loss issues are addressed before providing everyone with their GTA$500,000. Thanks for your patience and please stay tuned.”

So, the money is still coming, we’ll just have to wait a bit longer.  Probably a good thing as it would have really sucked to get all that money only to find your character has been mysteriously deleted.

Grand Theft Auto V is out now for PS3 and Xbox 360.  Grand Theft Auto Online comes free with every copy of the game.
