Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn is going strong. The reboot launched at the end of August and is already seeing strong support from fans. Square Enix is very delighted and have announced that the MMO has exceeded 1.5 million registered players since the launch.
The combined total is across North America, Europe and Japan on both the PS3 and PC versions. A PS4 version is already pretty far into development with the beta program for the next-gen console to comment February 22, 2014 worldwide.
A number like this is a dream come true for Square Enix and the troubled development team. The original version of Final Fantasy XIV launched in 2010 to abysmal reviews. It was a poorly designed game that was rushed out of the gate. Rather than give up on the title, Square Enix brought in new upper-management for the title and tasked them with rebooting it. That brought us Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, which is far superior.
Coming in December is the first content update. This will add key features including Player vs. Player battle arenas, new dungeons, player housing and more.
Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn is out now for PS3 and PC. The PS4 version will launch sometime in 2014.
