PS4 Will Launch With The Following Apps

PS4 is a mere 8 days away in North America. Anticiaption is running high and Sony are revealing the last details of what will be available on the PS4 at launch.  Today, Sony has revealed what entertainment apps players can download when they pick up their new consoles.  There are a total of 11 and here they are:

  • Amazon Instant Video
  • Crackle
  • Crunchyroll
  • EPIX
  • Hulu Plus
  • NBA Game Time
  • Netflix
  • NHL GameCenter LIVE
  • Redbox Instant by Verizon
  • VUDU
  • YuppTV

As Sony has stated before, these apps will not be locked behind a barrier.  You do not need PlayStation Plus in order to download and use these apps.  However, some of them, like Netflix, do require a subscription.

Sony checks off most of the boxes when it comes to delivering the Entertainment apps most people use.  The only notable exception is HBO Go, which was an Xbox 360 exclusive.  It is unknown if HBO intends to end that exclusivity and bring the service to PlayStation users in the future.

PS4 is out November 15 in North America and November 29 in Europe across 32 countries.
