Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor Announced

Coming out of the highly successful Guardians of Middle-Earth, it would appear that Monolith Productions has become Warner Bros. new Middle-Earth Studio.  Warner Bros. have announced that the studio is working on Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor for PS4, Xbox One, PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.  The game will be featured as Game Informer’s January Cover.

Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor takes place in-between the events of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings.  Players become Talion, a ranger who travels to Mordor in the days before it became the blasted landscape seen in the films.  Monolith Productions is using the power of the next-gen consoles to develop something really cool; the Nemesis System.

The Nemesis System insures that all enemies fought in the game are named.  If they survive a battle with you they will flee and continue to grow, improve and act in the world.  Basically, you’re creating you’re creating your own worst enemy as you play.

The reveal of Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor confirms rumors back in August that a new AAA title based on Tolkien’s Middle-Earth franchise was in development.  Game Informer has gotten to spend lots of time with the title and will have an extensive analysis of the game when the January issue arrives in stores this December.

Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor is out sometime in the near future for PS4, Xbox One, PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.
