The Wii U may have gotten off to a sluggish start, but the truth is, it’s library has a bevvy of great games to offer at this point. In fact, some could even argue that it may be the best “new” console to purchase right now, what with being an upgrade over current systems, substantially cheaper than the PS4 and Xbox One and home to more solid titles than both of the next generation consoles have combined at their respective launches. Nevertheless, that hasn’t stopped the naysayers of the internet from stomping on anything good that’s associated with the Nintendo brand. Sure, we can probably say that the Wii U hasn’t exactly caught fire in the way that some expected; and sure, it may not live up to being a true “next gen” console. But, if you can get past the fact that it’s a “tweener” of sorts, there’s so much to see and enjoy.
During the Big N’s Nintendo Direct this morning, the famed company highlighted this very notion. The Wii U eShop hasn’t exactly been known for its extensive library. But Nintendo hopes to change that in the coming months, offering its fanbase a host of games that are sure to blow up some skirts. Some of the more notable releases included in the list of upcoming titles are as follows: Pier Solar HD, Q.U.B.E., Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse, Wooden Sen’sey and a few others. If any of these have struck a chord, peep the montage below. We’re personally keeping a close watch on WayForward’s new Shantae installment, as it looks to share that undeniable charm of the previous games, in addition to some beautiful 2D visuals and clever platforming elements.
