Todays Nintendo Direct revealed that 3DS owners will be getting things to do with their Mii. Miiverse, Nintendo’s social media app for Wii U, will be making the jump to 3DS. Miiverse on 3DS will get its own set of communities that correlate to the titles releasing on the platform.
This all leads to more exciting news: the new update will create Unified Accounts through the Nintendo Network ID. Previously, the Wii U and 3DS existed as two different entities, but soon that will all be in the past.
Owners of both the 3DS and Wii U can connect both devices to the same Nintendo Network ID and share content across the platforms. This includes sharing the same balance in the Nintendo eShop and also Miiverse activity transferring between both platforms. In the past, 3DS and Wii U used to different wallets in the eShop.
Nintendo has not revealed when the update that brings these features will hit the Wii U. However, it shouldn’t be too long of a wait if they’re announcing it now.
