It’s no surprise that a newly launched console has its issues. It’s difficult to troubleshoot every potential problem in-house, especially since it’s impossible to test every one of the million units of the PS4 that were sold. While many gamers across North America have been experiencing trouble with HDMI connections, overheating and other minor issues, there has been one major problem without a solution in sight: the blinking blue light of death. This blinking light is due to the console not entering a powered on state (which would be indicated by a white light).
Several of the causes listed by Sony are TV compatibility, power supply, hard drive or general hardware issues. With customer reports in mind, Sony has released a fix guide that should correct most blue light related errors.
