Trophy Guide: Resogun

Being among the first two PlayStation Plus games, Resogun gives us a classic side-scroller shooter with a modern touch. Since every PlayStation 4 owner should have a copy of Resogun, we made a quick guide to help you conquer this game. Just keep in mind, Resogun is largely about skill and even with a guide, some of these trophies will take some serious work to obtain.

The true RESOGUN starts here

Type: Gold

Description: Complete all levels on Veteran difficulty

How to Unlock: Beating Resogun on veteran isn’t impossible, but you’re going to need some skill to accomplish it. Before going for this trophy, I strongly suggest you get a feel for each ship.

Ships:

Ferox – Weak, but fast. Upgrades to have lock on attacks and is the best ship for saving humans.

Nemesis – Balanced. This is the best ship, if you don’t want to have a “weakness”

Phobos – Powerful at the cost of speed. This is the best ship if you want to overpower the enemy and hold a position.

Unless you’re really good at Resogun, I strongly suggest not playing as Nemesis. I found Phobos was the best ship, since the extra power is enough to neutralize any threat. However, you might prefer Ferox if you’re having issues killing enemies in time. The lock on attack becomes unstoppable in later levels, though it won’t help you much with bosses.

Finally, if you’re having serious issues with this difficulty, then give it a try online. Here you’re free to die and provided your partner finishes, you get full credit. The only snag you might face, is that master difficulty doesn’t seem to unlock (at least in single player) after you finish veteran in co op. Also keep in mind that humans give you various power ups / items like lives, bombs and shields.

Elected official

Type: Bronze

Description: Complete Acis

How to Unlock: This level is pretty idiot proof. Provided you can get to the boss, all you need to do is use overdrive (R1) after the first phase. You should have enough time, even on veteran, to finish him off with the attack.

Certified Electrician

Type: Bronze

Description: Complete Ceres

How to Unlock: Unlike Acis, Ceres seems to give a lot of people trouble and that is due to the boss. To defeat the boss, all you need to do is shoot the green spots. Breaking one will change his spin direction and breaking two more will follow you. To break the final one, you need to get it near the top and then constantly boost between sides. The next phase might give you some problems, but you need to quickly and rapidly boost away from his reach. Wasting your boost will result in him catching up and can cost you a life. If it looks like he is about to pass you, make sure to fly above him and move to the other side. After 20 or so seconds he will face sideways and you can finish him off. I strongly suggest using overdrive to destroy one side, boosting to the other side and then finally finishing him off with a boost.

Store no more

Type: Silver

Description: Complete Decima

How to Unlock: Decima is when Resogun starts to get hard, but it really comes down to proper boosting and smart bomb management. When it comes to the final boss, I strongly suggest attacking him, since overdrive doesn’t do a lot. I would save the overdrive until you get overwhelmed by his cube attack. Beyond this, boost close to him and make sure to look both ways before moving.

Winter is not coming

Type: Silver

Description: Complete Febris

How to Unlock: The trick to completing Febris, is to abuse the snowflakes. Every snowflake will make an “ice field” when destroyed, which will capture and freeze enemies upon contact. This will free your mind to focus on the other side and or give you a chance to destroy them while neutralized.

This boss is something of a combo of Decima’s and Ceres’s boss, so combine the lessoned you learned there, here.

Cool trophy!

Type: Gold

Description: Complete Mefitis

How to Unlock: Mefitis is the last level and by far the hardest. There really isn’t much you can do, though watch for patterns. One of the easiest to identify pattern, are the enemies that go from side to side. These come after each phrase, so you might want to save your bombs for them or plan accordingly. Beyond this, the final boss is doable, but there are a lot of cheap moves. He basically comes down to using your boost wisely, which is something you should have mastered by now.

Micromanagement

Type: Silver

Description: Save two humans within a span of one second

How to Unlock: This sounds a lot harder than it actually is. Free one human and then fly your ship over them. Wait until you free another one, then slowly shoot the human towards the drop off point. Once he/she is safe, boost into it saving the other human. This should, provided you timed it right, get you the trophy. If it does not unlock, then try again.

How do I stop this thing?!

Type: Silver

Description: Kill 50 enemies in one boost

How to Unlock: Throughout Resogun, you will get swarmed and overran by enemies. When this happens, just boost through as many as you can and you’re bound to get 50 kills at some point. This trophy comes down to set up, not timing, so make sure you plan ahead. However, I was able to easily get it on the first level of novice.

Congratulations on your driver’s licence!

Type: Bronze

Description: Reach the end-boss of any level using boost only.

How to Unlock: Okay, there are two ways to get this trophy. You can either spend hours trying to master boosting and artfully dodging attacks or you pawn the work off to your partner. If you choose to do the latter, I believe the only real requirement is one boost kill and you didn’t use a bomb or fire your gun. Provided you do these three things, then you can have someone online do the heavy lifting for you. I actually died before even making it to the final boss and the trophy still unlocked, so just find someone capable enough to beat the first level on rookie and you should be fine.

O to the D

Type: Silver

Description: Kill 100 enemies during Overdrive

How to Unlock: The easiest way to get this trophy, is to select Decima and get to the boss. Wait until he releases the mini cube and then use your overdrive. This should result in net you 100+ kills easy.

Masterful dodger of revenge bullets and stuff alike

Type: Silver

Description: Complete a level on Master difficulty

How to Unlock: Master difficulty boils down to how good you’re and how well you planned ahead. Enemies have a lot more life and with it, they fire a bullet upon death. This can make the level really awful, so my only advice is to play smart and abuse boost (immune to damage during).

1CC

Type: Gold

Description: Complete Arcade mode without losing all lives, on Experienced difficulty

How to Unlock: This is probably the second hardest trophy and is all about how skilled you’re. While I was able to do it with a random person online, I strongly suggest you find a partner looking for this trophy too. With your partner, figure out which humans give lives or bombs, this is easy to do, since they’re always the same. Have the player going for the trophy get them, so they will be well stocked. During each boss battle, let the player not going for the trophy die a little before the level ends. This will result in you coming back with 2 bombs and 2 lives, which will help immensely. Beyond this, it’s going to come down to your skill and ability to gauge situations.

Humanist

Type: Gold

Description: Save all humans

How to Unlock: Saving every human sounds harder than it actually is. Select rookie difficulty and use the Ferox. The lowered damage will help you avoid making a mistake. During each level, listen for the keeper detected warning. When you hear that, either a group of enemies will come from above in a set pattern (drawn beforehand) or you will need to kill certain enemies in sequence. The key to this trophy is to make sure you don’t break the sequence and never miss a timed enemy. This might take some practice, though it isn’t too bad.

Denied!

Type: Bronze

Description: Save a human from Abductor’s beam

How to Unlock: Once you save a human, you must return them to the safe point before the abductor captures them. The amount of time you have is based off difficulty and it’s your standing flying saucer enemy. Destroy one of these before it captures a human for the trophy.

Savior of Acis

How to Unlock: See “Humanist”

Savior of Ceres

Savior of Mefitis

Savior

Type: Bronze

Description: Save a human

How to Unlock: To save a human, you must destroy a group of keepers. The DS4 will announce their presence and they will glow green to indicate they’re a keeper. Once you destroy all the keepers, you should see a blue light fly off elsewhere. This will free a human.

To actually save him, drive over the human to pick them up. As you go around the level, you should see a green light shinning down. Fly into the light and you’ll be rewarded with a predetermined item.

(1+4)x

Type: Bronze

Description: Get a multiplier of 5x

How to Unlock: See “(10+1.5+3.5)x

(5+5)x

Type: Silver

Description: Get a multiplier of 10x

How to Unlock: See “(10+1.5+3.5)x

(10+1.5+3.5)x

Type: Gold

Description: Get a multiplier of 15x

How to Unlock: This is probably the hardest trophy and it really comes down to luck. With that being said, there are three ways you can go about it, but you must do this on veteran or master difficulty. In addition to that, remember that bombs/overdrive/boost and saving humans can help/prevent losing your multiplier. So use them when you’re about to reset to 1x.

Method 1:

You have to beat Acis with at least a 5x or so multiplier combo. This isn’t impossible, since death is the only way to lose your multiplier during a boss battle. However, keep in mind that there aren’t enough enemies on Ceres to hit 15x, so you need something from Acis to get you there.

Method 2:

Start on Decima and try for an 11 or so multiplier combo. Destroying the little grey cubes the boss shoots will greatly boost your multiplier and can be farmed for a good chunk of bonus. However, keep in mind that you will need a sizeable chunk before hand, since the boss alone won’t get you to 15x.

Method 3:

Beat Febris or Mefitis without screwing up. Both of these levels have enough enemies to hit 15x on their own and I was able to do it on Febris. However, keep in mind that I had a buffer of maybe three enemies, so you can’t screw up.

Let fly!

Type: Bronze

Description: Throw a human to the escape pod

How to Unlock: Pick up a human and fly to the pod. Instead of flying into it, push L2 to throw them into the beam.

Pilot of Ferox

Type: Bronze

Description: Complete the game with Ferox

How to Unlock: For this trophy, you must beat all the levels in one go (continuing is okay) with the same ship. Stage select will void the trophy, so either play online with someone or play rookie alone.

Pilot of Nemesis

Type: Bronze

Description: Complete the game with Nemesis

How to Unlock: For this trophy, you must beat all the levels in one go (continuing is okay) with the same ship. Stage select will void the trophy, so either play online with someone or play rookie alone.

Pilot of Phobos

Type: Bronze

Description: Complete the game with Phobos

How to Unlock: For this trophy, you must beat all the levels in one go (continuing is okay) with the same ship. Stage select will void the trophy, so either play online with someone or play rookie alone.

To the Max!

Type: Bronze

Description: Fully Upgrade the ship

How to Unlock: I got this the same time as Fire and you just need to play Mefitis and get both power ups. They will be inside these circular containers with a + sign in the middle.

Fire

Type: Bronze

Description: Fully Upgrade the main gun

How to Unlock: I got this the same time as To the Max! and you just need to play Mefitis and get both power ups. They will be inside these circular containers with a + sign in the middle.

Power

Type: Bronze

Description: Fully upgrade the overdrive

How to Unlock: Similar to To the Max! and Fire, you get this trophy by saving humans. After about 4 or 5 the trophy should unlock. If not, then it should when you’re saving all the humans on Mefitis.
