GameStop announced today that it has officially sold through its stock of PS4s and that 2.3 million customers are still waiting for their devices. In a conference call with analysts, the game retailer said initial sales had exceeded its predecessor by more than 80 percent. The company also expects high demand for the Xbox One.
This is a surprisingly number considering that an impressive one million PS4s have already sold, meaning that more than two thirds of prospective customers were left out in the cold. It is important to remember, however, that these includes open pre-orders, some of which will likely not be fulfilled on the customer’s end.
With such high demand, it seems that Sony could have difficulties meeting the demand this holiday season after all.
