Malfunctioning Xbox One? Get a Free 1st Party Game

As I’m sure you’re well aware now the Xbox One, like the PS4, did not have the smoothest of launches.  Probably the most infamous Xbox One problem is the Blu-Ray drive, which is incapable of playing games on a small portion of consoles.  Players know they have a malfunctioning Blu-Ray drive when they put in a disk and hear a horrible grinding noise.

Fret not, Microsoft will send you a replacement console free of charge, and more.  Microsoft is offering a free game from their 1st party selection to download and play on the malfunctioning console while the new one ships to you.   “While a replacement console is on its way, we want to ensure our advance exchange customers can stay in the game. We will provide each of them with a free digital download of one of the launch titles published by Microsoft Studios,” Microsoft said in a statement.

These games include Ryse: Son of Rome, Forza Motorsport 5 and Dead Rising 3.  You see, while you can’t play disk-based games the Xbox One is still fully capable of playing downloaded games from the Xbox Live Marketplace.

Microsoft has not put a timeline on this deal.
