Months ago, Hyperkin happily announced that the incredible multi-cart system RetroN 5 was going to launch on December 10th. What sets the system apart from other recently manufactured consoles is that it can play NES, Famicom, SNES, Genesis, and GBA games. The device caused many retro fans to salivate, but unfortunately it won’t make it under any Christmas trees this year.
Hyperkin revealed that faulty connectors have been discovered on some of the consoles. These were RetroN 5’s which were already packaged and ready to ship out. Faulty pins in the cart bays could lead to games not loading, or even damaging game carts themselves!
As such, Hyperkin has decided to delay selling the system this year. Instead, they hope to have it out in the first quarter of 2014. Those who don’t need the GBA and Famicom slots might just want to opt for the readily available RetroN 3 instead.
