Minecraft Hits 13 Million Units On PC, 10 Million on Xbox 360

Minecraft, the huge indie sensation that has inspired millions of people has reached huge milestones on both the PC and Xbox 360.  This was revealed on the Stats Page on the Minecraft site.  The PC version now sits at 13,002,686, a staggering amount of units sold for an indie game.  The franchise as a total has shifted over 33 million copies.

The Xbox 360 version, available as a retail product and downloadable from Xbox Live, has hit 10 million units sold worldwide.  Microsoft is celebrating this achievement by taking 50% off all texture packs, except for the licensed Mass Effect and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim texture packs.

This is all very exciting news, and Minecraft will only continue to grow more popular.  A mobile version has already been released to strong acclaim.  PS4, PS3, PS Vita and Xbox One versions are also currently in development for a release sometime in the near future.

Minecraft is available now for PC, Xbox 360 and Mobile devices.
