Nintendo eShop to Undergo Maintenance Following Christmas Rush

What sort of gifts do console gamers love to receive on Christmas? Video game consoles and handhelds, of course! Many people received Wii U and 3DS devices on the 25th and immediately started playing them – or at least they tried. Nintendo’s servers were pushed beyond capacity, making the eShop slow and some aspects completely inaccessible for hours.

Nintendo took the time to apologize and update fans via their Facebook. To effectively manage the higher volume of users, they are going to take the Nintendo eShop offline for emergency maintenance. This maintenance will last from 4PM EST today until 4AM EST tomorrow.

If there are any changes to these plans, Nintendo will post more updates to Facebook and Twitter.
