Turbine has confirmed that The Lord of the Rings Online will continue for many years to come. Some had feared that the MMORPG would face a cancellation this year due to Turbine’s license expiring soon. However there is no need to fear. Turbine has extended its license till 2017.
The announcement came from The Lord of the Rings Online’s community manager. “I just wanted to drop in and address the concerns surrounding the license, again,” he wrote. “We have said as far back as July of 2013, we plan to support LOTRO for many years to come. I really want to be as clear as possible on this subject to avoid any further confusion or misunderstanding. The license was renewed.”
The extension of the renewal will help ensure that the One Ring will finally reach Mordor. When The Lord of the Rings Online was first announced Turbine confirmed that they would be adding more sections of Middle-Earth with each expansion pack until we got to Mordor. The most recent expansion was Helm’s Deep.
We can breathe a sigh of relief and look forward to hearing more about The Lord of the Rings Online in the future.
