Namco Bandai has confirmed that they are switching their English name to Bandai Namco. The publisher/developer that brought us Tekken, Ridge Racer and the Tales series made the announcement via a quick press release in Japanese. Running it through a translator reveals the name change.
The statement states that the reason is to unify the brand and increase the value and appeal of the name. This does make sense as the company is already known as Bandai Namco in Japan and other languages. Its only really in English speaking countries that the company was known as Namco Bandai.
Bandai Namco is preparing for a huge year. The company is bringing quite a bit of Tales games West for the first time on PS3. They are also sure to have two mega hits with both Dark Souls II and Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Super Smash Bros. for 3DS launching throughout the year. We highly doubt that something like a name change will impact the company in any way.
