The Hollywood Reporter stated today that Sly Cooper, the beloved second-tier PlayStation icon whose latest PS3 and Vita release went under-appreciated, will get a movie in 2016. The 3D animated feature is set for release early in that year and will be written and directed by Kevin Munroe of TMNT fame. It seems like the storyline will follow the first game’s plot reasonably closely. If it does well, then this could easily lead to the entire story being told in CG form. Given that the series is known for gorgeous cel-shading, seeing this use CG instead of a more traditional 2D art style is a bit disappointing, but it could easily still wind up being quite good – especially if they go with the existing voice cast since they know the characters and always do a great job.
