Mario Kart 8 Release Window Narrowed Down

At Nintendo’s financial results meeting today, Nintendo president Satoru Iwata confirmed that Mario Kart 8 will be released globally some time in May, having previously only been specified to launch in ‘spring.’ The news comes after a very turbulent few days for Nintendo, with the Japanese brand reporting disappointing sales figures and re-evaluating their stance on mobile content. Mario Kart is Nintendo’s most popular franchise, and an enormous amount of pressure will be placed on this newest installment, along with the imminent release of the next Super Smash Bros., to help bring the company back to a healthier financial standing. Whether either of those games will drastically change the fate of the Wii U is anyone’s guess, but one thing is for sure: May can’t come soon enough.
