After some rumors about it, Major Nelson confirmed that Dead Island would join the Games For Gold lineup in February. The first game offered up for the month will be Toy Soldiers: Cold War, available on Feb. 1 at no charge. This RTS is one of the few in the Arcade marketplace, and is a bit less intimidating than the full-fledged entries in the genre like Command and Conquer. Dead Island joins the lineup on Feb. 15, and is a bit of Fallout mixed with a zombie outbreak. It’s a challenging game, and one that has been on sale many times on Steam, but it’s never been offered up for free on a console before. While the Games For Gold offerings tend to be older than the usual PS+ games, you do get to keep them regardless of whether or not your Gold account is active at the time – so you never have to worry about losing access to a fantastic game you discover through the program.
