Poor Wii U. Suffering severely from a lack of Third-Party titles, many were surprised when Warner Bros. announced that Batman: Arkham Origins would be coming to the platform. On top of that, they also offered the Season Pass for Wii U owners promising all DLC content, including the upcoming single player expansion. However, that is not happening anymore.
Nintendo Support has confirmed that Warner Bros. has cancelled the planned DLC for Wii U due to low demand for content on the system. “Based on demand for Downloadable Content on the system, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has made the decision to remove its offering of the upcoming new story campaign for Wii U,” Nintendo Support wrote in an email to those who purchased the Season Pass.
As a result Nintendo will be refunding the $19.99+tax that players spent to get the Season Pass. You won’t be getting cash back though, only eShop credit. You’ll still own all of the DLC released for the game, just not the single player expansion.
The cancellation of the DLC is sad, but not all that shocking. While both the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game sold over a million each, the Wii U version has not broken 200,000 units. The DLC is still planned for PS3, Xbox 360 and PC.
