Drakengard 3 Receives Collector’s Edition and Date

Drakengard has never been a major series, but it still caught people by surprise with its rather unique story and better than average flight mechanics. While the original developer has since been closed down, Access Games has picked up the torch for the third installment, hopefully delivering a true successor to the franchise.

Square Enix has confirmed the release date for the upcoming action game to be May 20 in North America and a day later in Europe. Additionally, a collector’s edition has been revealed, which really should be labeled as ‘limited edition’ as only 5,000 copies will be made, giving us a handful of goodies:

  • The Complete Novella Art Book
  • The Official Soundtrack
  • Prequel Stage DLC
  • Caim Costume DLC
  • Giant Baby Hat DLC
  • Collectible Poster
  • Japanese Voiceover DLC
  • Two Unannounced Pre-order Incentives

Finally, the English opening cinematic has also been posted, giving us a small glimpse at the story, gameplay and localized voicetrack. Drakengard 3 will be out May 20 exclusively on the PlayStation 3.
