Interested in playing the brilliant Freedom Cry DLC, but no longer have a copy of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag? Ubisoft has you covered. If you own a PS4, PS3 or PC then you’ll be able to purchase Freedom Cry as a standalone game later this month.
Freedom Cry takes place after the events of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, and stars Adewale — your trusted first mate from the main game — in place of Edward Kenway. Now an assassin, Adewale finds himself trapped on Saint Domingue where he begins a slave revolt to overthrow a wicked Templar. You can learn more about the DLC through our review right here.
PS4 and PS3 users can download Freedom Cry starting February 18, with the PC version following a week later. It will run you $14.99, a $5 increase over the original release price — likely because it no longer requires the $60 title. Ubisoft hasn’t revealed why Freedom Cry will not be releasing on Xbox One, Xbox 360 or Wii U as a standalone title.
We’ve reached out to Ubisoft for information regarding the Xbox One/360 release and will update accordingly.
