Out of Nowhere: Inazuma Eleven Launches in North America on the eShop

You read the headline correctly; today, Nintendo gave us a surprise announcement stating that Inazuma Eleven has been released in North America on the 3DS eShop. In the world of pro wrestling, dropping news of something the day of its happening is called “hot-shot booking”. While hot-shot booking usually doesn’t work out very well in professional rasslin’, in the game world it can. In fact, Nintendo has done this before (#NESremix) so it shouldn’t come as too much of a shock that they did it again. Still, it’s a pleasant surprise all the same as Inazuma Eleven is one of those franchises that has never made it to North America, despite having been around in Japan and Europe since 2008.

So what is Inazuma Eleven, exactly? Well, it’s a soccer RPG from Level-5 — the same guys who brought us Ni no Kuni, Rogue Galaxy and Dragon Quest VIII. Sounds great, right? Well it is, and now you can check it out for yourself. It’s a digital-only title, so you’ll have to head on over to the 3DS eShop to get your fill.
