Intellectual property for Devil May Cry has been filed for trademark by Capcom just yesterday according to the Office for Harmonization in the Internal Market website, and yeah, if you’re an avid fan of the previous DMC games that doesn’t include “DmC: Devil May Cry,” then you could be right in guessing that this means a righteous rebirth to the beloved series that started eight years ago.
This is not to say that Capcom wouldn’t come back with an updated version for DmC to accommodate for next-gen powerhouse consoles such as the PS4 and the Xbox One. However, considering that the trademark for DmC is registered in a different name, then this assumption could prove to be unlikely. Rather, these consoles could help resurrect the original Devil May Cry.
Compare the two screen shots above and see for yourself. Dante’s white hair, original combos and cheesy, yet epic one-liners might be returning to us pretty soon. All that’s left now is to play the waiting game and see when Capcom will reveal the new edition to the franchise. An E3 announcement is probably the best possible guess at this point.
