Zero Escape Series Future In Jeopardy

We’re pretty big fans of the Zero Escape series here at Hardcore Gamer, giving Virtue’s Last Reward one of our very rare 5 out of 5 reviews. Unfortunately, it looks to be a long time (if ever) until we get our hands on the third entry of the series. The director of the game Kotaro Uchikoshi sent out a series of tweets yesterday that indicate they are currently experiencing some unfortunate funding issues.

So that is kind of a depressing series of tweets, especially considering how seriously he seems to take it. The second game ends on a huge cliffhanger so to stop now would leave this giant hole in the plot (and in our hearts). Unfortunately without any source of funding and without being able to convince companies to put money into his game, the Zero Escape series is currently on some very shaky ground. After he crushes all of our hopes, Uchikoshi does manage to give us the slightest glimmer of hope.

See? All we need is an individual with a large amount of money that they are willing to invest into making this man’s dream come to life. Some individual with a lot of interest in the nonary game and…you know, this is starting to sound a lot like the first game’s plot. Regardless of where he gets the money from, he promises that we will see an end to the series at some point in the future.

I believe there is still hope. ZE3 will definitely be released somehow, someday!

Despite the bad news, at least he does end it with some optimism. Zero Escape 3 might not currently be looking good, but he appears to have a real commitment to getting the game made someday, somehow. Luckily, things ended on a positive note. I mean, check out this sweet snowman he built!

…nevermind. I take it back. That is the most depressed snowman I’ve ever seen. Please, somebody help this man finance his game.
