Full Titanfall Game Now Available for Download on Xbox Live [UPDATED]

Pre-loads are such a wonderful thing. Steam users have been reaping the benefits of this system for years and now it looks like Xbox One owners will be extended the same courtesy. Instead of being forced to download a near-16 GB file the minute Titanfall is released alongside a million other people, users who pre-purchase the game will be able to pre-load it immediately on their Xbox One. Of course, the game won’t become playable until 12:01 AM PST on March 11th, 2014, but this ensures that players will be able to jump into the action immediately upon release.

While the Titanfall midnight launches are sure to be a blast, this is yet more incentive to go digital.

Microsoft has released the following statement about the situation:

“We believe in digital distribution, and are proud to give gamers a variety of ways to purchase and experience their games. However, pre-purchase and pre-download for Titanfall for Xbox One will not be available from Xbox Store. We’ll continue to strike a balance between digital distribution and its benefits, while supporting physical games purchase through our retail partners.”

“The pre-purchase offer page was posted in error. We apologize for any confusion.”

We’re not sure how an entire offer could be posted in error, but there you have it: no Titanfall download for you until release.
