Yesterday, a developer who supposedly worked on Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 came forward and gave a scathing report on the development of the game and the ‘terrible’ management under Studio Director Enric Alvarez. Today, yet another developer has come forward confirming the terrible conditions the team was put under and the poor management of the studio.
“The problems we’ve been through are basically those in the original post,” the anonymous developer said speaking to Vadejuegos (translated by VG247). “There’s plenty of talented devs [in MercurySteam], though they’re not among the [studio] heads. There’s almost no actual lead in here. The only ones who really have something to say are those who have been here since the early days or those who struggle to please Enric [Álvarez, Mercury Steam CEO].”
Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 launched this week to mediocre-to-poor reviews. Our own Editor-in-Chief Steve Hannley gave the game a scathing review noting that the sequel is only a shell of it’s predecessor.
Enric Alvarez has weighed in on Twitter dismissing the accusations. “Is sad see people giving credit to the lies and insults from an enraged ex-worker. What a world we live in..”
We have not had any word from Konami or a representative of MercurySteam to support or debunk these accusations.
