Two expansion packs, China Rising and Second Assault, have already been released for Battlefield 4. Naval Strike will launch late March with Dragon’s Teeth and Final Stand launching later in 2014. As we all know, development of these expansion packs have been delayed so that Dice could focus on fixing the broken base game. However, the company is moving on to other projects with a different studio developing those final expansion packs.
Over on Reddit, Dice developer DarkLord7854 revealed that Dragon’s Teeth and Final Stand are being developed by Dice LA and not Dice. Dice LA was formed last year when EA shuttered Medal of Honor developer Danger Close. Most of the staff were moved over to the new studio. Interestingly, Dice LA worked on Second Assault so that it would be ready in time for the Xbox One’s launch.
Despite vast improvements, Battlefield 4 still suffers from a few issues. Improvements are still being made, but the fact that the developer is handing development duties to another studio is not an amazing sign.
Dice is currently developing Star Wars: Battlefront and Mirror’s Edge. Rumors suggest that either Visceral Games or Criterion are developing a Battlefield game for 2014.
