Rockstar Games Earns A Bafta Fellowship

The Grand Theft Auto developers will be presented with the BAFTA award at the British Academy Games Awards ceremony on March 12. Chairman of Bafta’s Games Committee, Harvey Elliott expressed much-deserved adulation for the company.

“The creativity and passion exhibited by the Rockstar teams have inspired a generation of game developers to raise the bar in every aspect of game development — from design and mechanics, through to storytelling, cinematics and audio immersion.”

Sam Houser of Rockstar Games was apparently humbled by the announcement.

“We have long believed in the potential for video games to become a new form of cultural expression and worked to show that in our games. This honor reflects the creative vision and dedication of a huge number of people over many years.”

The BAFTA award is the highest honor granted by the Academy, and Grand Theft Auto 5 is nominated in multiple categories, including Best Game.
