Amy Hennig Leaves Naughty Dog After 10 Years Of Service

You might not know Amy Hennig if you didn’t follow the behind-the-scenes making of Naughty Dog’s games.  She worked on the Jak and Daxter series before becoming Creative Director for the Uncharted franchise.  She wrote and directed all three of the Uncharted games on PS3, and was set to do the same on Uncharted for PS4.  Now, that isn’t going to happen.

Sony has confirmed to IGN that Amy Hennig has left Naughty Dog.  “”We can confirm that Amy Hennig has left Naughty Dog. Amy has made significant contributions to the game industry and we appreciate all she has done for Naughty Dog. The development timeline of Uncharted will not be impacted.”

No specific reason was given for her sudden departure.  However, sources have told IGN that she was “forced out” by Neil Druckmann and Bruce Straley, the men responsible for The Last of Us.  Apparently, the Uncharted franchise will not come under their control.  Why they would want to force out Hennig to take over the franchise is unknown considering they have their own successful franchise to direct.  Sony has not commented on these accusations.

Uncharted PS4 will be full unveiled at E3 2014.  While Hennig is no longer with Naughty Dog, we’ll still see plenty of her work in the upcoming game.
