In a shocking turn of events, EA cancelled Titanfall’s release in South Africa. My first guess was that local Mech pilots were angry at false representation, but believe it or not, EA wasn’t concerned with offending anyone. In an almost-but-not-really noble move, they’ve decided to cease its release due to performance issues — because you know, it would be unethical to sell a title that isn’t working up to snuff at launch.
“After conducting recent online tests for Titanfall, we found that the performance rates in South Africa were not as high as we need to guarantee a great experience, so we have decided not to release Titanfall in South Africa at this time.”
Unsurprisingly, Microsoft’s Azure platform has no data center in South Africa. Respawn promises updates in the near future. Titanfall will launch on the Xbox One and PC on March 11 in North America, and March 13 in Europe.
