EA has confirmed that the ability to rent Battlefield 4 servers on consoles is coming soon. The ability to rent severs is available on the PC version, but has been missing from the console versions since launch.
Speaking on the forums, an EA spokesperson confirmed that the service is coming to consoles. “Indeed, it is coming. I’m afraid we don’t have any information on this quite yet, but it is coming soon! Keep your eyes peeled on the Control Room and Battlefield blog, as those are most likely where you’ll see it announced first.”
Renting servers was available on the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of Battlefield 3. Renting servers allows the renters to set their own rules and restrictions. The renters could then kick people from the game who did not play the way they liked. In Battlefield 3, this quickly became a problem as the rented replaced the official ones. Hopefully EA and Dice have learned from past mistakes.
Battlefield 4 is available now on PS4, Xbox One, PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.
