Steam Controller Gets a Redesign

It wasn’t long ago when Valve revealed a new direction for their company with the addition of an operating system, controller, and variety of Steam Boxes to satiate consumer needs. At the time, many were skeptical of the new controller thanks to its complete lack of analog sticks, d-pad, or even traditional face buttons.

That was just one of the many prototypes of their new controller. Now there is a new controller design and it is the one that’ll be showcased at Game Developer’s Conference next week. Some portions remain the same but overall it looks like a huge face lift.

The controller is now shown as having four buttons in the same orientation as Xbox controllers, although they are situated closer to the center. There is still no d-pad but there are four separate directional buttons. Finally, the two circular analog touchpads are still present and the most distinctive thing about Valve’s upcoming controller.
