EA Apologizes To Nintendo Over “Unacceptable” April Fools Joke

April Fools can be fun when its lighthearted, but not all jokes are like that.  In fact, some are downright mean and hurtful.  While yesterday was filled with some funny jokes, there was one that took things a bit too far.

Tweets began popping up on the official Frostbite Twitter account taking jabs at Nintendo and the underpowered Wii U.  They were quickly taken down, but not before images of the Tweets were taken and posted online.  IGN has all of the Tweets if you wanted to take a look.

The jokes were mean-spirited and distasteful.  EA COO Peter Moore quickly called out Frostbite and apologized to Nintendo for the rude jokes. “Our apologies to partners @NintendoAmerica & fan @FrostbiteEngine’s poor attempt at April Fools not condoned by EA : unacceptable/ stupid.”

EA currently has no plans to bring any of its games to Wii U this year.  A large part of this is the fact that many of their upcoming games run on the Frostbite 3 Engine.  Frostbite 3 is not compatible with Wii U, though it is with PS3 and Xbox 360.
