The latest Nintendo Direct started off with a bang – the upcoming Super Smash Bros. game will be released this summer on the 3DS, and then hit this winter on the Wii U. The 3DS version will be playable at 60FPS, and in a nice surprise, it will have two songs for each levels. The Wii U version will instead feature a variety of songs available from past Smash Bros. Games. It seems weird to have the 3DS version released so much sooner, but it does make sense to release the portable version during a time when the kid-friendly system will get its most use from players. Having the Wii U version as a winter release could make it the holiday killer app the console badly needs.
