Super Mario 3D World has only just released, but Nintendo is already hard at work on the next 3D Mario game. However, we still don’t know the platform it will release on or when it may even launch.
Speaking with Edge Magazine, Nintendo Producer Yoshiaki Koizumi confirmed that the next 3D Mario game is currently in development at Nintendo’s EAD Tokyo studio. What he wouldn’t say is if the next game would be coming to the Wii U or 3DS. “That’s still a secret!” he says. “I can tell you, though, that we’ve already started approaching our next challenge.”
Super Mario 3D World launched back in November exclusively for the Wii U. The game was well received by critics, but was unable to help Nintendo sell Wii U units. Super Mario 3D World is currently the worst selling 3D Mario game ever released.
Even though we know the game is in development there’s no telling when it will actually be released. We’ll let you know should Nintendo make any announcements.
